Asian market analyst Daniel Ahmad provided some very interesting information regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s launch on Twitter this Friday. To start, Ahmad keys in on online streaming as a key metric. He says that on the first day of availability, Cyberpunk 2077 accrued more than 19 million cumulative viewers on Chinese streaming platforms. That’s with more than 7,500 individual streamers playing Cyberpunk 2077. For comparison, Twitch broke its record with 1 million concurrent viewers....

The CyberPunk 2077 collector’s edition appears to be pretty beefy, coming with a ton of goodies fans can show off to their friends. There’s a pretty sizeable statue included in the mix, and while the leaked images aren’t the best quality, it does look like it will be pretty detailed. Beyond that, there’s a healthy portion of the usual collector’s edition fare: a mini artbook, a collector’s steelbook, postcards, a map, and what appear to be some patches, among other things....

While there are many different places that potential Cyberpunk 2077 DLC could go, it would be worth CD Projekt’s time to focus on the cast of characters in the base game and not stray too far into new ones. Obviously, the temptation is there to add a whole new cast of characters to the mix, but keeping it simple with the characters the studio has already established would help give the DLC some solid footing....

While a decent chunk of gamers has moved on from the debacle, others are still waiting out on CD Projekt Red to patch out the PS4 and Xbox One versions, as well as work on next-gen ports and the promised free DLC. It would be great to see these fixes and additions rolled out as soon as possible, but recent developments make such prospects seem unlikely. Cyberpunk 2077 is slated for a September release, and given this news, it seems as though things are on track. With the game almost done with development, it should be only a matter of time before the announcement is made that it has gone gold as well. Developer CD Projekt Red is known for creating deep, immersive worlds and this looks to be its most ambitious game yet. Cyberpunk’s slew of customization options in the character creation mode is one way that the world of Cyberpunk will pull players in. Attention to detail is paid not only to character design and how NPCs interact with the player, but also in the little things that make the world feel alive....

In a way, this could still be considered a decapitation, as the head was removed from the body. Just because there’s nothing left of the head doesn’t mean that this Cyberpunk 2077 player didn’t decapitate Gustavo. Unfortunately, they weren’t told ahead of time that the goal was to bring back Gustavo’s head, as if they were they might have been a bit more careful to preserve it. One major side effect of the new delay to Cyberpunk 2077 is that the game will no longer be eligible for The Game Awards 2020, losing its chance at The Game Award for Game of the Year until a full year after its current projected release. With so much hype around Cyberpunk and the fact that CD Projekt Red’s last major game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, won the award in 2015, hopes were high for the new RPG at 2020’s awards....

Players learn more about Joshua and his plans as the story goes, and V can be as involved as they wish to be, with many opportunities to leave the Cyberpunk quest while still completing it and possibly even getting paid without seeing it through to its end. While this isn’t necessarily a true content warning, at least, not in the traditional sense, it’s an interesting tactic of warning players of what’s to come, and it should become a trend in video games that discuss difficult or disturbing topics....
