How to Obtain the Kold Mirage Side Job
To obtain this side job, players need to finish the “Spellbound” job first. If they read the Notice of Expiration shard found during the “Many Ways to Skin a Cat” mission, “Kold Mirage” will start automatically. If not, players can head directly to the place in the Badlands where their fateful encounter with Dexter Deshawn and Takemura took place.

Kold Mirage Side Job Walkthrough
Follow these steps to complete the “Kold Mirage” side job:
Head to the location indicated above to begin the mission. It’s in the Badlands southeast of the city. Take a moment to check Dexter Deshawn’s body for a Power Pistol called Plan B. V can take solace in the fact that killing him was at least not Dexter’s Plan A. Plan B is one of the iconic weapons in the game, and it has a fun effect that spends eddies instead of ammo. Head over to the freezer nearby and open it to make a chilling discovery… Regardless of the stench, reopen the freezer. Scan Bartmoss’ body to find his Elysla. Johnny will mention that Nix would be the right person to bring this to. Pick up the cyberdeck and close the freezer. Head back to the Afterlife to meet with Nix. Show Nix Bartmoss’ Elysla. He’s skeptical at first, but after checking out the deck for himself, he’s filled with reverent enthusiasm. Nix then gives V a choice: should they try to hack Bartmoss’ Elysla or leave it alone? Choose to hack Bartmoss’ fabled cyberdeck, and Nix will ask V to set it down on the desk next to him. Choose to leave it alone, and the mission will be placed on pause. V can come back and ask Nix to hack it later. With V’s go-ahead, Nix attempts to hack the deck and runs into a layer of protection that outsmarts him. To save Nix, V needs to do one of the following: Hack the terminal next to Nix’s chair. This will save Nix and preserve the content on the cyberdeck. Overcharge the power box near the door. The cyberdeck will be wiped, but Nix will be saved. Nix will sit up and thank his lucky stars, he awards V with a fistful of daemons and calls it a day.

What to do Next
Kold Mirage isn’t a prerequisite for anything thus far, though that could change as the game evolves. It’s nice to be on friendly terms with Nix, though. He’ll make another appearance later on in a main mission called “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” In the meantime, track down the best quickhacks in the game or take on one of the other great side quests.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
