On Reddit, a Cyberpunk 2077 fan named animosityhavoc used AI to denoise, sharpen, and upscale the resolution of one of the game’s screenshots. The screenshot features a character in the background but using this AI allowed the fan to get a closer look at the character’s face. A user on ResetERA named Black Chamber used that image and compared it to photos of Hiroyuki Sanada, an actor who was featured in Avengers: Endgame.

Sanada has also starred in the TV series Westworld, The Wolverine, The Last Samurai, and The Twilight Samurai. What really makes fans think that he could be in Cyberpunk 2077 though is that he also starred in 47 Ronin with Keanu Reeves.
It is possible that Reeves got CD Projekt RED to hire Sanada for the role after working with him on 47 Ronin. Reeves enjoyed his time working on Cyberpunk 2077 so much that he got CD Projekt RED to give him more lines. It is possible that the developer, which has real trust for Reeves, listened to his ideas of who should be cast in the game.
If Sanada is in the game, then one character he could be playing is Takemura. In January, a line of Cyberpunk 2077 Funko Pops was announced, and while it did feature characters like Johnny Silverhand and protagonist V, it also had a character that hadn’t been announced named Takemura. It is unclear just who Takemura is but if the character is getting his own Funko Pop, it suggests that he will be an important part of the game.
CD Projekt RED has been revealing much more information about the game. There have been several corporations and gang reveals on social media, allowing fans to find out who is making weapons, starting fights, and trying to keep people safe in Night City. This may mean that the developer is ready to share more information about characters like Takemura. Some more information could potentially come as the Summer of Gaming event next month. Cyberpunk 2077 will be part of the event, which will feature reveals and announcements, so something could be confirmed.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on September 17, 2020, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
