Although the company is often tight-lipped about the separate mode, a recent conference call brought with it a number of interesting tidbits courtesy of the company’s president and joint CEO Adam Kicinski. Amongst these reveals were some new details surrounding the upcoming Cyberpunk multiplayer experience, with Kicinski reiterating that it’s internally considered as a “standalone product.”

The CEO stated that while it is in the same universe as the upcoming single-player RPG, it will be “very much related to the concept of single-player Cyberpunk,” the game is being handled by a separate team. According to Kicinski, it is considered an “independent production and [an] independent team of people works on it.” It seems the game will be its own slice of the Cyberpunk world that won’t be intrinsically connected with 2077, perhaps taking a page out of Grand Theft Auto Online’s book and forming two very separate experiences for single player and multiplayer.

Alongside that, CD Projekt Red reveals that it will be a “big production,” with a large number of separate devs dedicated to making it the best it can possibly be. The more CD Projekt Red discusses Cyberpunk 2077’s online spin-off, the more it appears as though it’s going to be a significant experience that continues to push forward the game’s sci-fi universe. It still seems as though the mode is a ways away though, with the company recently giving it a tentative release date of no earlier than 2022.

The rest of the CD Projekt Red’s earnings call goes into some interesting alternate aspects about Cyberpunk 2077, such as reiterating that the game is still set to launch on December 10 and that the standard PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game run very well. As the game’s release date begins to loom even closer, it seems players are more excited than ever to get their hands on CD Projekt Red’s newest title, especially with the team releasing such a wide variety of new trailers, gameplay, and details over the last few weeks. The size of the game on the PlayStation 4 even leaked earlier today, revealing that it will take up 72 GB of the console’s hard drive and that preloading will be available on December 8.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions releasing in 2021.
