In a recent interview with vg247, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red discusses how vehicles will work, specifically when left behind. Many may already know that the game will allow the player to own multiple apartments (and therefore have access to multiple garages) in order to access tons of vehicles. However, CD Projekt Red isn’t sure how many vehicles can be owned in the game yet, nor can the player own or operate one of the game’s flying vehicles.

Cyberpunk 2077 players will still find a vehicle they like and that serves as a “main ride.” And when they leave that vehicle behind, players will be able to call it back to them, in a similar vein to the way that Roach would return to Geralt in The Witcher 3. Specifically, lead quest designer Pawel Sasko stated, “The same that happens with Roach. So basically, because those cars are equipped with AI, if you call it, you can see the car driving towards you…So you can just leave it wherever you want, it can go somewhere, just call it, and AI makes it like ‘bzzt!’, he drives by and waits for you.”

Some may consider this feature to be small in the long run, but it will likely help with the fluidity of the game, as players won’t have to run around as V looking for a vehicle to steal constantly. Combined with some of the more core features, such as character customization, dialogue trees, choice of playthrough styles, and freedom granted by CD Projekt Red, it’s clear why Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the best games of E3 2019.

For those wondering how CD Projekt Red balances the intense actions with its deep RPG systems, we recommend checking out our Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2019 preview. It doesn’t release for some time, but it’s clear why this game is at the top of many a gamer’s most wanted list.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
