Luckily, the skill will come through playing the game, and the weapons will come through learning more about what each off-hand weapon can bring to the battle. While the best weapon for the player is rather opinionated, some are much better than others.
8 Smith And Wesson Schofield Pistol
With a base damage of 22, the Smith and Wesson Schofield Pistol is a thoroughly enjoyable off-hand weapon to use throughout Curse of the Dead Gods. It’s ideal for players who are interested in always shooting the perfect shot.
Essentially, this pistol allows the player to always shoot those perfect shots as well as having a pretty useful and deadly Off-hand Combo. Combined, this will allow players to get rid of those smaller enemies easily and never have to worry about getting less damage out of an attack. It might not be the most powerful, but it’s a great weapon to have if found.
7 Ancient Buckler Shield
One of the best aspects of Curse of the Dead Gods is the ability to parry. It can be the difference between living or starting the game all over again. The only issue is it’s a relatively challenging element to learn and perfect. That being said, if the player has got that aspect sorted then the Ancient Buckler Shield is the perfect weapon to get hold of.
Once the player successfully completes a parry with this shield, their main weapon will end up dealing its critical damage for around two seconds. It may not seem like a long time but every second counts in this roguelike.
6 Reaper
The Reaper might not do as much damage as the likes of the Smith And Wesson Schofield Pistol, but its abilities make it absolutely worth grabbing if it comes up. After all, it helps the player do more damage, and protects them from some of the most annoying damage in this challenging game.
This almost pirate-looking pistol has an ability that makes any normal ranged attack useless against the player. Any time they get hit with a ranged attack it proves ineffective, so they don’t need to worry about anything flying into them while they’re taking down the enemy. It’s likely they’ll be taking down the enemy with double damage whenever they hit with a perfect shot since that’s the capability of this weapon. It’s powerful, and useful throughout the game and shouldn’t be ignored.
5 Flagellation, Mistress Of Agony
This is easily one of the better-looking off-hand weapons in Curse of the Dead Gods. It looks just as deadly as it fights and will give any player the edge to get rid of those tricky bosses. This is mainly due to the base damage of 29, but can also be granted to the interesting ability that possesses the Mistress of Agony.
While it may only be particularly useful in certain settings, this whip is ideal for players fighting in the darkness. This is because it does an extra 50% damage in these situations, allowing any player to easily fell any foe in front of them.
4 Duelist’s Shiv
In direct comparison with the Mistress of Agony, the Duelist’s Shiv perhaps isn’t the most impressive aesthetically. It’s a relatively simple design but don’t let that fool fans, for this weapon, is powerful, quick, and will benefit anyone looking to put up an impressive fight.
It’s ideal for players who like evading using an off-hand combo since doing so with this dagger will automatically restore their stamina fully. This is perfect for players who find their stamina dropping quicker than they would like. It also has a base damage of 30, making it a great weapon, even without the ability.
3 Colt .45 Rainmaker
When it comes to ranged off-hand weapons, the Colt .45 Rainmaker is one of the best. It’s always a real challenge to land that perfect shot, especially when it’s got the capability of ending the battle successfully. This is what sets this pistol above the rest.
If the player charges their attach then it will allow the Rainmaker to always pull off a perfect shot. This allows for extra damage and is also surprisingly satisfying to pull off. Particularly when it’s the last shot of the battle.
2 Heart Render, The Flesh Eater
From a first glance, Heart Render isn’t the most powerful weapon in the game. In fact, it’s probably one of the weaker choices. However, the ability this dagger possesses could be a game changer.
That weak base damage of 15 can put some players off, but once they see the ability they’ll know that 15 doesn’t last long. As soon as the player gets a kill with this weapon it will increase Heart Render’s base damage by 5%. This can go up to 200% and will quickly make it one of the most powerful weapons. It’s almost like it scales with the player as they progress through Curse of the Dead Gods.
1 T’amok’s Fury
Whips are great off-hand weapons because they are capable of doing some great damage and can hit more than one enemy on each attack, so putting that with the added risk of fire makes T’amok’s Fury a weapon to be idolized.
It looks as deadly as it is, mainly due to the ability that grants the player a 50% chance to summon a fire jewel. This, in turn, will allow the player to keep burning the enemies and stop them from getting too close. It’s an ideal off-handed weapon for this wonderful roguelike.
Curse of the Dead Gods is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
